Role Summary

The Maintenance Engineer has overall responsibility for administration of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) system, and maintenance processes.


  • Structure CMMS to optimize maintenance administration by end users
    • Equipment hierarchy
    • Standard jobs 
    • Job programs 
    • Scheduling 
    • Measurements 
  • Basic data governance of CMMS, e.g. naming conventions, equipment class and type, technical characteristics, measurements 
  • Maintenance documentation and records control, e.g. maintenance checklists, maintenance registers, maintenance forms and templates 
  • Oversight of supplementary maintenance systems from third parties, e.g. oil sample analysis, inspections 
  • Maintenance change request processing, and monitoring of status 
    • Equipment 
    • Standard jobs 
    • Standard job scheduling (calendar, criteria, and event based) 
    • Rig operating mode changes (stacked) 
    • Miscellaneous changes (criticality, maintenance strategy, technical coding) 
  • Liaison with Subject Matter Experts for technical input on maintenance change requests 
  • Control of spare parts in CMMS, including lists for equipment, and standard jobs 
  • Administration of Maintenance Performance Monitoring system (Reports, KPIs) 
  • Desktop auditing of CMMS for compliance with company expectations 
  • CMMS build for rigs, optimizing CMMS structure to minimize build schedule 
  • Training company personnel in CMMS, including development of training material (presentations, user manual, video library) 
  • Support auditing activities by second and third parties, e.g. client 
  • Support troubleshooting CMMS issues for maintenance, including organizing required support from CMMS vendor and IT 
  • Other duties as assigned 


  • Preferred Qualifications 
    • Degree in analytical subject, e.g. engineering OR vocational qualification in technical area 
    • Member of professional body, or qualification, e.g. Institute of Asset Management (IAM), or Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP)
  • Preferred Experience 
    • Administration of CMMS 
    • End user of CMMS 
    • Management of maintenance data, including familiarity with ISO 14224 
    • Asset management, including familiarity with ISO 55000 series 
    • Maintenance management of drilling rigs 
    • Awareness of Supply Chain management 
    • Awareness of Project management 
    • Provision of support to internal organization
