Role Summary

Provide counsel and guidance on legal implications of all operational business matters to all functions within Borr Drilling organisation which shall include Marketing, Operations, HR and Finance functions. Review draft drilling contracts and develop contractual exceptions table as part of the tendering process to ensure compliance with Borr Drilling CRiSP. Participate in the development and implementation of company policies, procedures, programs and business strategies and ensure each is applied in full recognition of all legal implications and risks and to protect the company’s legal interests. Conduct legal research, prepare and review legal documents and assist in the representation of the company before courts and governmental and regulatory authorities. Assist and/or conduct investigations relating to employment and/or compliance matters. Assist in administering the core components of the compliance and ethics program to provide a platform to facilitate, promote and monitor conduct as it relates to ethics and compliance regarding applicable laws and policy, including measures to prevent and detect violations of same. Assisting the Head Legal & Contracts for on-going pre-dispute and litigation matters. Review and Implement new country of operations review processes which include creation of new legal entities structures as well as local incorporation.


  • Draft, review, analyze and interpret contracts and other documents.
  • Provide counsel and guidance on legal implications of operational matters including, but not limited to, drilling contracts, shipyard and engineering contracts, maritime transportation contracts, procurement, dispute resolution, customs issues, field training/compliance, regulatory, real estate and trade control matters.
  • Assist and/or conduct investigations relating to employment, compliance, and/or ethics matters, including researching and analyzing information, recommending courses of action, and providing appropriate and timely responses.
  • Assist in the development, planning and presentation of written, graphic, verbal and on-line education and training of Borr Drilling personnel with respect to contractual and compliance matters.
  • Assist In the development of the company’s legal position in legal matters. Prepare, negotiate, review, evaluate and/or comment on contracts and obligations of the company, and advise appropriate personnel of the degree of legal risk associated with such contracts and obligations prior to becoming a party or otherwise becoming legally bound.
  • Participate in the achievement of company goals and objectives by advising Borr Drilling personnel on legal alternatives for business decisions and by providing sound and timely legal services.
  • Provide legal advice to Borr Drilling personnel as necessary on marketing matters, policy development, training and health, safety and environmental matters.
  • Conduct legal research, prepare and review legal documents and assist in the representation of the company before courts and governmental and regulatory authorities.
  • Review and coordinate use of outside law firm attorneys by the company.
  • Manage assigned or delegated special projects and tasks to completion in an efficient, economical manner in order to contribute to the achievement of company goals and objectives.
  • Advise Borr Drilling personnel of the impact of existing and proposed local, state and federal laws and regulations and judicial and administrative decisions on any existing and proposed activities of the company.
  • Review corporate practices including but not limited to operations, marketing, bidding, etc. to ensure conformance to standards set forth in the applicable laws.
  • Perform duties as assigned by the Head Legal & Contracts.


    • 5-7 years’ post-qualification professional legal experience, preferably some experience in one or more of the following areas: Oilfield Services, Drilling Services or Maritime.
    • Ability to judge character, distinguish relevant facts, assimilate and analyze facts, and apply legal conclusions.
    • Good communication and analytical skills; good legal research skills; strong sense of humour and teamwork skills; good problem-solving skills and positive attitude; good legal writing skills.
    • Strong resource management skills and ability to plan and organize.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office application. 
    • Bachelor’s degree in law from accredited law school with a strong academic record.
    • Licensed to practice law; member in good standing bar.
