Payroll Supervisor – Aberdeen

Role Summary

To oversee administration of multiple payrolls and the accurate and timely processing of payments for all staff within designated region. Manage and maintain an efficient and legally compliant payroll function.


  • Manage the accurate and timely processing of all payrolls for on and offshore personnel within Europe
  • Ensure payroll is compliant with all statutory requirements regarding taxation, reporting,
  • Support the Company with internal and external audits, providing requested information in a timely and professional manner
  • Liaise closely with corporate treasury team to ensure bank file uploads completed prior to payroll deadlines
  • Liaise with third parties in the preparation of foreign tax calculations
  • Obtain appropriate management approvals for finalised payrolls
  • Submit timely and accurate Tax and Social Security statutory requirements to appropriate National Authorities on a monthly and annual basis
  • Support corporate benefits team with pension reporting
  • Oversee processing of training expenses and Training Compensation payments
  • Manage payment exceptions including: bonuses, maternity/paternity, sickness pay etc.
  • Manage salary deductions including: student loans, court orders etc.
  • Process out of cycle payrolls when required
  • Month end reporting, journal entries for finance department
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of statutory requirements and industry developments in payroll practice to ensure compliance and best practice is adhered to at all times
  • Oversee distribution of payslips
  • Manage all year-end payroll activities including production of P11Ds, P60s and national equivalents
  • Process any other ad-hoc forms i.e. P45s as required
  • Plan and prioritise day-to-day job functions of payroll team and coordinate activities for special projects
  • Maintain security and confidentiality of payroll department at all times
  • Responsible to ensure recruitment and selection, performance management and discipline and grievance processes for payroll team are effectively implemented and conducted in accordance with Company policies and procedures
  • Support, encourage and mentor team; provide clarity regarding expectation and support development efforts to ensure they have the skills and opportunity to develop in their current role and prepare for career progression
  • Take personal responsibility for own continued professional development and undertake any training as required
  • Perform other duties, complete additional tasks and support ad hoc projects as required

Qualifications & Experience

  • High School English & Maths or equivalent
  • CIPP/IPPM Diploma in Payroll Management or equivalent qualification/experience at Company’s Discretion
  • Experience dealing with complex and varied payrolls particularly offshore payrolls
  • International payroll experience
  • Proficient in MS office, particularly advanced excel
  • Extensive experience of using Payroll software
  • Maintain the confidentially of company and payroll information
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proficient in evaluating potential problems with payroll and ability to work on own initiative and offer alternative solutions
  • Manage and prioritise varying workloads
  • Ability to work in a complex work environment to challenging deadlines
  • Ability to work in a team, to influence people and generate enthusiasm
